  • Lyrics

One of the things I looked forward to coming home to was being able to listen to Hitz.fm again (free publicity? ;D). Even though they might overplay songs to the point where you know the songs word for word without even wanting to, they play music that's current. Unlike in the UK, where they feature A LOT of their own indie artists whose music I can't really appreciate.

Being able to listen to the local music channel again is great, but for some reason there's this one song currently playing that really irritates me every time I hear it. It isn't the melody or the singer's voice that doesn't sit well with me, it is the lyrics. The chorus goes..

    When I’m kissing you
    It all starts making sense
    And all the questions
I’ve been asking in my head
Like are you the one should I really trust
    Crystal clear it becomes
    When I’m kissing you

    ..?

Well, according to this artiste, that's the litmus test to find out if that someone is worth trusting. Huh. Can you really tell if the guy/girl is 'the one' by kissing them? Doubt it. Even though I may not be best person to give an opinion about that ( I don't run around kissing people guys to see if I can trust them), common sense says DUH.

I think lyrics are powerful. Why? The combination of words and music, especially catchy music, is super influential. Throw in repetition and you have the recipe for successful brainwashing.

    =D

Although, having said that, some lyrics are too nonsensical for people to really live them out. Kevjumba made a good video regarding lyrical nonsense.

For the record, I love Kevjumba (all thanks to a certain Ms. Wong). His videos, not him, although he does occasional illicit the desire to pinch his cheeks because he's well..getting fat.

    ANYWAYZ.

    I love being home =)

I love being able walk out in shorts and a tank top without worrying if the weather's going to change 360 and become freezing cold and how I can walk around in the malls or sit down in a cafe to eat without people staring just because I'm oriental. I love how I can easily get satay and roti canai and chicken wings (those roadside ones?) again..MmmMm

Being able to see friends, swapping uni stories, laughing at an inside joke built from something that happened once upon a time, relax in the company of those who know me better than i know myself. Seeing storm clouds gathering, hearing the rain pour in torrents and finally being lulled to sleep by the softer drizzling sounds..

And! I have yet to have seafood for dinner, walk barefoot on the beach while watching the sunset and hearing the waves crash on the shore, proper shopping, see my little cousins..I  can't wait =D

So yes I'm ecstatic to be home. I can only hope that time doesn't pass so quickly. Please God, please please please >.<

  • overdue once a month entry.

It's end of term already here at Keele. Except for medic students (who start exams first week of July? good luck guys!).  Except also, for first year physios.

Not that I'm complaining about having to go on placement. I am thankful and feel blessed to have to this opportunity; to be in a course where the lecturers give so much; to be studying something that I personally chose and have an interest in.

Some of the Malaysians closest to me have already left for home..2 of them are fellow Sabahans and are headed home towards my beloved KK. My other friends are also showing signs of being homeward bound. Other internationals are talking about leaving, discussing summer storage, helping each other pack whereas the locals and their parents can be seen carrying boxes and boxes from their rooms to the awaiting cars outside.

I'm praying for everything to go well these coming few weeks. And while I do not wish for time to pass in a blur, I hope that in the midst of everything, it will pass quickly enough. I want to go home.. homesickness has not been a big problem this past semester (thanks God!), but even so, the year has taken its toll quietly and slowly. I feel that bit of weariness from having to grow up and to deal with matters head on with no other given choice.

I feel stretched one way..going home would stretch me the other way, balance me out, allow me to fully digest what I've learnt..I know it sounds strange, but that would be probably be very refreshing =)

I want so badly to hug (and be hugged by!) the people I love and can't see at the moment..but since I can't, I can only ask God to watch over them and keep them safe while I'm gone. I can't wait till the next time I see my loves..if you love me, and know (or have a hunch..) that i love you, please take good care of yourself. Eat enough, rest enough, look left and right before crossing roads..all that jazz.. =)

  • Has it really been that long?

    Now where do I start..?

    Leaving home..

    Stepping into uni..

    meeting new friends..

    Seeing snow =)

    going to Europe..

    pigging out..

Staying on my own, learning to deal with cultural differences, travelling alone..and so many more experiences! (no further pictures as Xanga seems to have put a restrictino on photo size..extremely frustrating). Where did all that time go?

Oh and by the way I'm 20 now. Farewell, teen-hood.

Am currently on Easter break now. Easter break translating into study break. I am completely enjoying the piece and quiet around the block.. ( was however startled out of sleep just now by the next door neighbour returning (signaling the return of loud pounding music). Never felt such a sense of dread before lol! 'OH NO.' *totally loses desire to return to sleep*)

Let's see who's still hanging around Xanga XD

  • Mmm Dinner.

If you live in England and you're reading this, you've GOT to try Gordon Ramsay's Bolognese and White Wine Sauce for Comic Relief. Major supermarkets around England should have it in stock..I got mine from Morrisons.

Buy it. Eat it. Love it.

    Anyway here are pictures!!

End of Autumn..View from my room. Excuse the reflection. It was a sunny Autumn day. Bliss!!

The funny thing is that when I was in Malaysia I used to cringe at a blue skied, sunny day, reason being that it would be absolutely boiling. In England though, when the sun comes out its like Christmas arrived early.

Sharon and I at Wetherspoon's for lunch. Judging from my hair, obviously taken sometime during the first few weeks after we arrived. Right now my hair's..a nightmare. I can't wait for that haircut in March.

Fog smog. Taken from a library window. Horrible Harry Potter weather in Keele during winter..The white patch above the building? You're supposed to see the trees and buildings further beyond that are set on a gentle slope..but here it's all obscured by fog.

Spot on Christmas present =D thanks Alan!

This is chocolate cookie dough, courtesy of pizza hut UK. Warm, oven baked cookie dough that's oozing with rich, smooth chocolate topped with vanilla ice cream, its a perfect dessert for cold, rainy days..It's extremely sweet though, best to share with a small group of friends.

Seafood pasta at Marcello's. My must-visit restaurant everytime I go up to my sister's place in Sunderland =D

    Christmas present..

This, ladies and gentlemen, is a Christingle. Its a symbolic gift thing that I got when visiting a church with friends on christmas eve. The sweets can be eaten, but not the orange.

SHOE! Went shopping with a bunch of my sister's friend after the boxing day sales began. You can't see from this picture but the heel and the platform all along the sole of the shoe are glittery. Very nice! but also very high T.T

I fell in love with these booties(modelled on Pei Ling's foot) at first sight <3 and they were super cheap too! unfortunately they weren't very comfortable, so Pei Ling and I left them on the rack with a heavy heart =(

After Christmas, my sister and I travelled to Europe for 10 days. We took a load of pictures but I'm not going to post them all up..overkill! So just a short recap.
