  • thoughts.

Travelling on the train allows me plenty time to observe and think. Many people would agree that trains/subs/buses/metros are one of the best way to people watch. I saw an old man sleeping on the train, slumped in his seat, snoring with his mouth open..lol! it was pretty funny..cause that particular train was a full one..and it was only because I was standing that I was able to see. Well, I heard it first really, the snoring i mean, but that's beside the point.

Then on a different, slightly less packed train, I saw a gorgeous boy. Boy??..lol guy would be a better word. This would be the train down from York to Manchester. Pleasant face with a natural, cheeky smile (i love it when guys aren't afraid to smile!) and eyes that smiled when he smiled. I bet his eyes are pretty..

I also noticed how people would do a stare or do a double take after I step on the train..especially the more northward  I travel. Less asian (asian chinese I mean, not asian indian/pakistani etc) up north maybe?..I understand the novelty of seeing a person of different skin colour, but being stared at is a bit awkward sometimes >.< Even funnier when I start replying their carefully worded questions in coherent sentences.

    Real life example..

    person A*gesturing*: oh..keele..*gesture some more*..campus..*gestures again*..big?..

me: oh yea..the campus is pretty big..

    person A: 0.0 ahhh...where are u from?

    XD

To my everlasting shame though, I said my internet cable was 'orange'..when it was really red. My block mates thought it was hilarious..and asked me if I was colour blind (most definitely not!!) I just never took noticeeee...>.<

I really need to put some pictures up to show u guys my slice of UK =)

Hope everyone's doing well..miss u guys back home! take care, everyone! God bless.

  • Providence

I had a flicker of worry in me tonight and was looking through youtube for a song that would help to soothe..and I arrived at this song..and the person who posted it up somehow had verses in before the song. And it was like having a lifeline thrown towards me.

'Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.' Eph 4:2-3

'Do not let unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you are selaed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slandering, along with any form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.' Eph 4:29-32

'Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragment offering and sacrifice to God.' Eph 5:1-2

'You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body.' 1 corinthians 6:18-20

    It's all about You, Jesus
and all this is for You
for Your glory and your fame
    it's not about me
as if You should do things my way
    You alone are God
and I surrender to your ways

    Jesus, lover of my soul
all consuming fire is in Your gaze
Jesus, I want you to know
I will follow you all my days
for no one else in history is like you
and history itself belongs to you
Alpha and Omega, You have loved me
and I will share eternity with You

    it's all about You, Jesus
and all this is for You
for Your glory and your fame
    it's not about me
as if You should do things my way
    You alone are God
and I surrender to your ways

  • England

It's a HUGE  hassle when you get sick whilst living away from home. Trust me. I'm so thankful i'm on the mend now. A full week of horrid coughing plus fever and sore throat has convinced me to take better care of myself. I'm not invincible after all (surprise surprise).

For those of you who don't yet know, I'm currently in the UK. The weather was a toughie to handle at first (it was probably one of the contributing factors to me becoming ill). It made my hair turn into dry straw for a few days. Luckily I slapped on a ton of moisturizer from the get go after being advised to do so by many, many a helpful relative or friend..so no peeling. And i've got warmer coats now, so I'm pretty certain I won't freeze over any time soon.

The next part is going to be totally random.

    You know x-factor right?

This talented (and very adorable) boy right here is from South Shields.

I actually passed South Shields while travelling to and fro on the train this weekend. Surreal! I first watched that video back in Malaysia..and when I passed the train station at South Shields that was really the first thing that came to mind.

'Joe McElderry is from South Shields!'

I have a feeling this is not going across very clearly. Let me give you another example. Hm..its similar to the first time I stepped into Boots pharmacy and went to the cosmetic section and found Rimmel. I went 'I'm at the founding land of Rimmel!' (not exactly la cause I guess that would be specifically London, but London is in England, and I'm in England, so yes, there you go.)

Its also like the when during the morning after the day I arrived, I had to walk to the main campus to attend something. It was cold then and I didn't realise I was breathing out smoky puffs until I saw 2 guys talking. I figured then that I was experiencing something I've seen only on television and the movie screens. I have yet to experience snow. Though that, I think, is not as fun as its made out to be. Just like how the falling red and orange leaves in autumn look prettier in picture than in real life. In reality, it's really just dead, withered leaves strewn on the ground. And if you're unlucky there might be an earthworm or some other slug among those leaves on which you would step on if your eyes weren't being particularly sharp during the time you walked. It's disgusting. The earthworms here are huge!

Having said that, England so far is nice. I love how convenient it is to travel and how their supermarkets stock so many convenient things, for example, tpacked pre-chopped onions. Alan says its cause the English ppl are lazy. LOL! I also like how polite the general public is. 'Sorry's and 'excuse me's, 'please' and 'thank you's are very often said..I like how their kids are bolder when it comes to talking and expressing their thoughts. I like how little kids can walk by you on the train and say (even if its very shyly) 'hello' and smile back at you. I like how owners walk their dogs often and how one can see dogs like alsations, golden retrievers, poodles and terriers riding the bus or train with their owners.

All in all, it is so far a pleasant experience =) Hope everyone else is doing alright!

  • This always happens. After not blogging for so long, its hard to decide what to put up here.

I've read in a book once that people often remember their 'firsts' - first day of school, first time you stood in front to give a speech, first camp, first crush etc etc but have their 'lasts' slip by unnoticed. And unsavored. That gave me a moment's pause back then.

True, right? Many many times we don't know it was our lasts until later on. Whereas firsts are easier to be anticipated.

It's never good nor healthy to dwell too much on the past. Pressing on ahead would be a better idea.

These few weeks though, I find myself savouring the experiences I go through. Trying to dwell in the present for just a little bit longer. Who knows which ones will be my lasts for the next few years? Where I can't take a picture using camera, I take mental pictures.

Most of the time I feel apprehensive as opposed to excitement. My cousin commented that she seemed to be more excited than me about my going away to uni. I can't even finish a 'what if' before the next one comes along -.-

There's so many things already done, and yet still so much to be done. And there are days even when I just wanna curl up and not bother about the forms that I need to fill and the info that I need to read up on.

Soooo dreary. Makes me pray for the excitement to kick in faster. Nevertheless, in moments like that, I'm made more aware of the strength the good Lord. Its always comforting to know that my future and the number of days of that same future are held by someone whose thoughts and power far exceed that of mine.

I wanted both through to the finals (and Federer out of it XD He's THE tennis maestro no doubt, but the hype is getting old =S)..oh well. I hope Rafa recovers soon and recovers well and completely, I miss watching him play.
